Chapter Seven

“What do you mean they took them? What the fuck! How were you not watching them?”

Jason was losing his fucking mind. The clinic was in disrepair, and Ryland was currently getting his head checked out by Scott. The man had been found unconscious and bleeding on the floor of the clinic. There had clearly been a struggle, and George was nowhere to be found. Joey was gone, too.

Dean was currently destroying some furniture in the hallway because of that.

“I just rushed in here when I noticed the smell. I’m sorry. I didn’t think—”

“That’s right, you didn’t fucking think,” Jason snapped.

Max and Logan were currently checking out the rest of the lodge, making sure it was on lockdown and that no one else was taken. Max worried the most about his own mate and child, and Logan was still wanting to prove himself as an asset.

Phoenix was being an asshole. He had his arms crossed and shook his head as he paced the destroyed clinic. “I always knew it. I always fucking knew it.”

“Knew what?” Jason growled.

Phoenix glared at him. “I always knew that fucking cocksucker would stab us in the back. I was fucking waiting for it, and he didn’t disappoint.”

Jason snapped. Phoenix thought George had arranged this? He flew at the man.

Phoenix barely saw it coming. The man had just enough time to lift his hands and try to defend his face as Jason slammed his fists down on him.

And yes, he did manage to get the asshole a couple of times in the nose before Phoenix could do anything about it.

Angry shouting, a lot of movement, and then there were hands all over Jason’s body, trying to yank him off of the bastard beneath him.

Phoenix roared at him. His eyes were blood red, and Jason only just then noticed that the man’s claws were out. The only thing stopping him from returning the attack was probably the fact that there were so many hands on his arms, pulling him away from Jason, just as Jason was being pulled away from Phoenix.

“That’s enough!”

Ryland had to grab ahold of Jason, while both Smith and Dean—who had apparently heard the commotion and come back—pulled Phoenix back.

Phoenix shrugged out of the arms of his friends and snarled at them before turning back to Jason.

“Don’t blame me because that little bitch human betrayed us! What did you think was going to happen? And you!” Phoenix rounded on Dean. “What the fucking hell are you so mad about? Who cares if that human was taken? I thought you wanted him out of here?”

Dean’s eyes flashed, and his nostrils flared. “I don’t want him taken and tortured by a bunch of humans looking to experiment on omegas.”

“He’s not an omega. He’s human,” Phoenix said, his nose twisting with disgust. “For all you know he was in on this, too. And when I find the both of them, I will kill them.”

Jason released a low, rumbling growl deep in his throat. “You’re not going to lay a finger on either of them.
